Dr. David Cox's journey at Orange Grove Center began in the 1980s in residential group homes for about 20 years. He returned to Orange Grove full-time in 2022.


Dr. Cox's commitment to fostering inclusivity extends beyond the confines of the workplace. As a certified Special Olympics coach in track and field, he has spent over two decades empowering Special Olympians to achieve their full potential. His tireless efforts and compassionate approach have not only fueled the success of his athletes but have also served as a beacon of inspiration for the broader community.


Rooted in a diverse educational background, Dr. Cox brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to his endeavors. Armed with a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Business Administration (where he graduated with honors), and a Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership and Organizational Studies, his academic prowess is matched only by his practical acumen. He was also inducted into Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology.


Throughout his career, Dr. Cox has traversed various industries, from banking and real estate to manufacturing and law enforcement. In each domain, he has assumed leadership positions, leveraging his innate ability to inspire and drive positive change. He currently serves as part-time faculty for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and was previously faculty at other colleges and universities.


Beyond professional pursuits, Dr. Cox remains deeply entrenched in community service. His involvement with the Harrison Ruritan Club, where he has held both club officer and district leadership roles, underscores his commitment to grassroots initiatives. In recognition of his exemplary service, he was honored with the prestigious Ruritan Tom Downing Fellow award in 2022.


Moreover, Dr. Cox's impact reverberates within professional circles as well. Having served as the past president of the Chattanooga Area Association for Talent Development, he has been instrumental in shaping the landscape of talent development within the region. Currently, as a member of the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, he continues to advocate for the rights and well-being of individuals with disabilities.
