A message to our golfers:

Your participation in this tournament supports the ongoing mission of Orange Grove to recognize, support, and celebrate the qualities of the individual. Orange Grove's history is rich in examples of entrepreneurial spirit, grit, collaboration, creativity, and innovation necessary to support children and adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD). Since Orange Grove's founding, we - that is, our entire community - have agreed that de-institutionalization isn't enough - that people with IDD are more like us than not, and that we should support programs and services that foster growth and individual achievement, and grow opportunities for success in our greater community.

Growing opportunities looks like planning for longer and healthier life spans; developing skills necessary to work or volunteer; planning residential options; and working to improve accessibility to all the benefits this area has to offer. Programs like art, music, and therapeutic recreation recognize that each of us, regardless of IQ, has an innate desire to be creative. Health care and dental clinics assure families that the particular needs of their loved ones will be addressed in a holistic and respectful way.

Join me for an outing like no other - where high fives, hugs, and cheers are par for the course, and where the success of the day isn't measured by scores but by smiles.
