Enrollment Policy
Orange Grove provides services to individuals with a primary disability of an intellectual disability who are predominantly from the geographic areas of Hamilton County, TN, and surrounding counties of southeast Tennessee, northwest Georgia and northeast Alabama. Residential services are provided for individuals who are from this area, as well as distant cities and states.

Enrollment Procedures

Orange Grove provides services to individuals who are referred from the Hamilton County Department of Education, the Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (DIDD), Amerigroup, BlueCare, United Healthcare, the CHOICES waiver, the Division of Rehabilitation Services, Ticket to Work, and the Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Individual families, physicians, social service agencies, other governmental entities and advocates may also contact the center regarding the enrollment of an individual. Customarily, all interested parties are directed to the local school system if they are under the age of 22 and to the Department of Intellectual and Development Disabilities local office if they are over the age of 22 and resided in the State of Tennessee since they are seeking public support for the individual to attend. For adults residing in the State of Georgia, interested parties are directed to contact the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities.

There are instances where a family or guardian may be interested in supporting someone by privately paying for services, and in this case the center would process the application and establish the necessary fees.

Wait times often do exist for new services to begin at Orange Grove Center. It may take three months or longer if a person has to establish eligibility with a governmental funding source. After a funding source is secured, an application for services must be completed and reviewed by Orange Grove's Pre-Admission Review Committee. This review is to help ensure we obtain necessary information and documents to provide the safest and most comprehensive services possible.
